The King’s Speech

Although I was seriously shocked when I received berlinda’s message yesterday, we (ber, ahni and I) still went for movie, then to get yong ying’s present and of cos, the IT fair today.

The King’s Speech is, as expected, a very good movie indeed. Who says qualification is the most important? Experience and feeling are just as important. This is what I understood from the movie. However, the acting of all the actors were not to ignore (with Colin Firth getting the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor). One very crucial fact to watching a movie is to always keep yourself warm (we’re shivering all the while before we started eating lunch)

After that, we went to Astons for lunch (due to the decision I made between Astons and Popeye halfway through King’s Speech) and went off to Peninsula Shopping Center to get the jersey for yong ying. One thing we realized after getting the jersey was that everything yong ying gave was wrong (from Peninsula Plaza to Peninsula Shopping Center and the 2th storey to the 4th storey) but all in all, the jersey was what we got (although it’s regretful that Tottenham is just too popular).

As berlinda needed to get a 3TB hard disk, we went off to the IT fair to look around and as expected, the crowd was just overwhelming and we got tired quickly (vampires everywhere~). It’s lucky that after being told that there’s no stock from 2 booths (1 being the actual Seagate booth), berlinda’s auntie managed to find the hard disk for berlinda (while me and ahni each bought something as well).

Anyway, I’m getting really bored from writing so I’m gonna end by saying that this is the one day that I’d walked so much after a long while and it had been tiring but fun.

Oh, and those who’re interested, trailer of The King’s Speech:

Black Swan

Went to watch the Black Swan with Jia Hui and Berlinda and the one main word that stuck with me (about the movie) was, Hallucination. I apologized to people who have not watched the movie because this one word is actually the one huge spoiler, therefore I’m not gonna spoil any further (after all, you still need to watch the movie to understand how it’s hallucinatory).

Natalie Portman is definitely one of my favorite actress after I saw her in Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. However, seeing Nina (her role in Black Swan), I just loves her even more. An actress that can act as compelling as this doesn’t come easy and as expected, the Best Actress Golden Globe Award went to her on January 16 this year. One even more important thing about her is that she is a psychology (yes, psychology~) graduate from Harvard.

Alright, enough about Portman considering this post is about Black Swan. A psychological thriller as of 告白, it really goes deep into a person’s mind. However, it’s double entertainment where you could enjoy a little (or quite a lot) of ballet performance.

A picture speaks a thousand words, therefore, those below 18, please move off to the next website while all the others, let’s have a look at the thriller instead…

Anyhow, just remember this one word that I said, Hallucination~~

パチンしゃなく、トカンで。

Saw Rachel’s post on 告白/Confessions and thought that I should come and write my own review about it. The one important thing that I learned from the movie is that, there’s a need to finish a whole movie (other than those that are just purely for entertainment) to fully grip the meaning behind it.

As expected from the movie, being a psychological thriller, it is more than what it seems. The start of the movie was kind of dull with Yoko-Sensei just blabbering about the end of the school year and her leaving her teaching post. The real focus started when she “unexpectedly” talked about the fact that her daughter’s death was actually not just a simple incident as it seems.

Everyone who read the synopsis would know that the movie circled around Yoko-Sensei’s elaborate plot to revenge. However, how elaborate her plot was exactly, could only be seen within the movie (unless you could read the novel itself, that is). Up to the name of a psychological thriller, her revenge plot was indeed toward the murderers’ mental state and had been incredibly successful. With all the actresses and actors totally in synced with the characters in the movie and the awesome graphics (all the clear slow-motion movements)  makes you feel like you are right in the movie experiencing everything personally (as how 3D does it but more of a psychological way). The absolute relevance to real-life makes the whole movie closer to you than it could be.

All in all, from a psychological way, it is educational and from an entertainment point of view, it definitely entertained me. Therefore, people who have not watched it and loves seeing a good twist in a movie (and elaborate revenge plot), this is the movie you shall try.
